Fatigue and Truck Accidents

Did you know that driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of truck accidents in the U.S.? The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) know this, and have published recommendations on how to potentially mitigate the annual number of truck accidents caused by truck driver fatigue.

Truck drivers are subject to laws that prohibit them from operating a commercial transport vehicle for more than 11 hours at a time. But federal law cannot require that drivers sleep during their legally-required 10-hour break between shifts. As a result, a driver may continue loading or unloading the truck, or may even spend that time operating another vehicle. Some drivers have commented that their company requires them to continue driving for the full time allowed by the government, even if the driver is fatigued.

If you or someone you know has been the victim of a trucking accident caused by driver fatigue, you should contact Polewski & Associates immediately to learn more about your rights and those of your loved ones. The sooner we learn about your situation, the sooner we can evaluate it and begin gathering more data.

If you have been in a truck accident in the area of Dallas, Texas, please contact Polewski & Associates to learn more about how you can protect your rights and obtain the financial restitution you deserve.

When Car Accidents Are Fatal

Serving Dallas, Texas and Surrounding Areas

Most of us know what to do if we are in a car accident where nobody is injured: contact the police and our insurance company. But in an accident where you or your passenger is injured, or worse, killed, do you know how to respond?

When an individual is killed in a fatal car accident, loved ones are often at a loss to know what actions to take. Sometimes a person delays seeking legal help, worrying in case their loved one was at fault. Other times, bereaved family members trust the insurance company to treat them appropriately and compensate them for the costs of losing a loved one.

Do not be lulled into a false sense of security by an insurance company's promises. At Polewski & Associates we know that dealing with the pain of losing a loved one can be overwhelming. That is why we work to protect your rights before they may seem like a priority to you. If you have lost a loved one in an auto accident, contact a wrongful death attorney immediately to insure that at a later date you are not mistreated by your insurance company or another motorist's attorneys.

Please contact Polewski & Associates today for a free consultation if you have lost a loved one to a fatal auto accident in Dallas or the surrounding areas of Texas.
